August 2017 Happenings
A small, but very fun group of us went rafting down the Iowa River the beginning of August. We got in the river near Eldora at a campground called Rock and Raft. It was quite the experience as they packed us all into this non-family friendly place:) The trip down the river was about 2 1/2 hours and by the end I was ready to get out as it had gotten chilly when the sun went behind the clouds. We went to hear a band after supper for awhile and then snuggled into our tents early from the long day. We heard campers next to us up until 3am and then awake again by 6! The next morning we had a yummy breakfast at a small town breakfast cafe
A few moms and LOTS of kids met up at Ledges for a lunch picnic. hiking, and swimming. There wasn't a lot of water, but enough for the kids to enjoy:)
We enjoyed a park date and picnic with friends at Moore Memorial Park. Squeezing every last ounce of summer that we can.
After many years of being on the bucket list, we finally made it to the Newton Drive In. We went to eat at Pizza Ranch in town and then headed to the drive in early. We played games and just enjoyed being together before watching the movie Emoji.
Crossed another one off our summer bucket list when we went to the Ames Farmer's Market on a Saturday morning. Didn't buy a lot, but had fun looking at all the food, crafts, and vendors. It was just the right size for us with the 3 kids.
Tiffany!! Betsy, Shanna and I got to see Tiffany at the Iowa State Fair. We enjoyed drinks at the Kraft Beer Tent and yummy tenderloins at a food vendor before heading over to the free concert. She was absolutely amazing and I loved that she took tons of selfies out in the audience with whoever wanted one.
We have a senior (Cameron), freshman (Kaelan), 8th grader (Carter), 2 7th graders (Kaleigh and Colyn) and a 6th grader (Lanie). This is the year we thought about when they were just babies, the last year that all 6 will be in the Nevada Public Schools at the same time. All seems to be going well so far:)
Sat in our usual spot near Mom and Dad's house for Lincoln Highway Days and Kenealy's joined us. Parade lasted a little over an hour and then headed over for yummy food afterwards before we headed up town for Lanie's dance performance.
Courtney took our family pictures this year (it had been 2 years) on Iowa State University Campus. I loved all the different poses she let us try along with different groups of us. We even got some with the dogs!
