We got back from Disney World and tried to get caught back up with our "normal" lives. Quickly though, normal wasn't normal. Lanie DID make it to Sunnyside camp weekend and then just a few days later the Coronavirus took off in the United States. On the Friday before spring break I stopped shaking hands with students and washing tables, countertops, handles and my hands like crazy. Earlier in the week I had hung a sign on our porch door to help everyone remember to wash their hands right away when they walked in the door.
By the first Monday of spring break, Monday, March 16, schools across the nation, including ours, had announced closures. Right now we are anticipating going back on Monday, April 13 but most of us believe that will be next to impossible.
I'm doing my best to keep to a routine for myself that includes daily exercise, cleaning, checking in on family and friends, using Duolingo to learn spanish, doing some school work, etc. Matthew took 2 weeks off and Carter is just finishing up his 1 week off. We are all trying to give each other space and grace. The kids spend way too much time on screens but I struggle to fight them on it after they have all their work for the day done.
I'm hoping we can continue to get outside for hikes and that the weather will warm up so I can plant the garden, clean the garage, and clean up the yard.
