dysw: April 2018 Happenings

I went down to visit Matthew at the State pool tournament in Des Moines on my birthday weekend. When his team finally had a break between their games we got out into the fresh air and walked down to Fong's Pizza for a tasty drink and yummy pizza.

Yes, we gave in. We got the girls a cat! Thea, a 6 month old Maine coon mix kitten, is a wonderful addition to our family. She keeps Rascal on his toes, loves to snuggle with Matthew, and puts up with Lanie carrying her and kissing her.

Lanie had a slumber party with these wonderful friends for her 12th birthday. The girls did hair and make up and put on a runway show. They watched Ferdinand and played board games.

For our April family date we went go-kart racing in Grimes. Kaleigh got to pick because she won the NCAA basketball tournament in our family. It was a great experience, although it only lasted about 3 minutes:) Then we went out to eat at Arby's and for rolled ice cream at Sweet Swirls in Ankeny. It was delicious!

A group of people got together to celebrate April birthdays. Mindy and Scott drove all the way to hang out with us too:)

Lanie was elated to be invited over to roast hotdogs and smores at Camlyn's house afterschool on a Friday. They played for a long time and she got home around 9pm.

Lanie had a great day at the Junior Achievement BIZ town event for her 6th grade class in Des Moines. She delivered the mail and got to see and talk to everyone. She was also nominated for the Citizen of the Day.
