November 2014 Happenings

We had fun looking and making things we needed for this year's couple's costume, Mary Poppins and Bert.  We even won the contest!:)

Lanie's girl scout troop visited Iowa State's Workshop 2 Sundays to learn how to make their own pottery.  They each got to make a bowl and a piece of art for the wall.

Lanie's teachers this year are again wonderful!  They both advocate for Lanie and care for her deeply.  Lanie did an awesome job at her student-led conference, telling Daddy and I all that she is doing in school.  Math continues to be her favorite, even though it is the most difficult for her.

Our PE teacher worked really hard to get grants and monies to buy our school a rock climbing wall.  I can't imagine how much Lanie loves this!

Girls' night out in Kansas City.  Nicole had won tickets to a country bar concert featuring Josh Thompson and Jana Kramer and invited me to come visit her.  It was great to have time to catch up with her at her house and Mindy in the 4 hour car ride.

Happy 62nd birthday Daddy and 33rd birthday Shannon!  Love you to the moon and back!
Carter's habitat project that was completed by Carter and Daddy when I was out of town.  I love how Carter took the initiative to do a you tube search for how to build the igloo on his own!  Then he thought of adding the background, inuit people, and dogsled.

Hair cut time!!  Lanie before . . .     and after:)  No more tears in the morning!

Carter before . . . and after:)  Val from Dancing with the Stars was his inspiration.

It was so sad to realize that Carter was no longer a part of Harvest Gathering at the Elementary School.  I missed dressing both kids up and both kids being excited to perform.  Lanie sang and wrote a verse with the girls in the picture about a place in our town, "The kids at the Aquatic Center laugh and splash, laugh and splash, laugh and splash, the kids at the Aquatic Center laugh and splash all through Nevada." She also had an individual speaking part about owls with her own class and then sang two whole group songs, We All Live Together and With Our Own Two Hands.

The kids and I spent Thanksgiving Day with Mindy and Aiden while Matthew worked.  We had a nice size meal for the kids including ham, mac and cheese, green bean casserole, homemade bread, mashed potatoes and cherry cheesecake.  The kids played all afternoon while Mindy and I talked and then we took the kids to Big Hero 6 at Jordan Creek.  Thankful for friends to be with on Thanksgiving:)
