June Happenings

Mother's Day was so close to the end of May I didn't get our Mother's Day pictures onto May's post, so thought I'd share them in June:)  We had the family come to our house to grill this time. Matthew made delicious hamburgers and Mom and Shannon each brought food too.  It was nice to have everyone together for a meal and to play.  The first picture is of Mom and all the grandkids and the second is of just the 4 of us, hard to imagine that's the way it was for SO many years:)

It was dance recital month too!  Matthew had to work so I was so glad Mom came to the recital with me.  Lanie danced two dances again, ballet and tap.  I tried to practice 3 - 4 times/ week with her at home the last month or so and it seemed to make a huge difference!  She even stayed backstage with the other girls all by herself (usually myself or a therapist has been with her for safety).  She did a great job and I was so proud of her.  As of now, she wants to continue dance lessons in the fall.

Here's a one minute clip of Lanie's tap dance Under the Sea.  Sorry you can hear my excitement:)

Here's a one minute clip of her ballet dance, Kiss the Girl.  This one she knew a little better:)

My Mother's Day poem from Lanie:)

Carter's self portrait, which he didn't like, but I love!

Lanie had a great baseball season!  She had really patient, sweet coaches and a supportive team and their families.  She hit the ball from the coach's pitch at least once every game and even scored some points!  Outfield was a little harder to keep her interested, but still a huge improvement in stamina from last year:)

She's tall enough!!  And she's so excited to be able to do the slides!  One day she went down the slides for the entire hour and a half that we were there; by herself, with people she knew from school, with people she didn't know, blue slide, yellow slide, up and down the entire time.  She was especially excited to see one of her best friends at the pool and could then go down the slide double with him:)

Lanie was invited to Jocelyn's babyshower.  It was fun to see the two of them together and their special relationship.  Jocelyn is due with a baby boy in August.

We took the Kenealy's with us to Dangerfest, both of us had never been before.  It was a great experience listening to good music outside on a beautiful night, with good company.  The best part was watching the hula-hoop girls and their amazing moves!  I felt like I'd been transported back to the 70's:)

The town had a nice little BBQ and Country fest last weekend put on by some local community groups.  Some of my girlfriends and their husbands hung out down at the 4H grounds for a while and then came back to our house to talk and play games.  It was a fun Friday night.  Love these girls!
