March 2018 Happenings

Matthew and I and the girls went to see the highschool musical about Dr. Seuss.  It's really great that they let the kids in the audience climb up on stage to see and explore the set afterwards.

Lanie participated in the Nevada Highschool Drill Team Clinic again this year.  Her highschool helper was Julie's daughter and she did a great job with her.  Lanie enjoyed watching all the dances that night when she wasn't performing.
I got to run Leprechaun Chase with these lovely ladies and then hang out all day with them.  The 10K run felt great, it was a little chilly but I wore my new hoodie so I was definitely warm enough.  We ate yummy food at the High Life and then hopped from bar to bar downtown.  We showed our age when we crashed by 10pm.
Lanie was invited to celebrate Claudia's birthday by joining her for a pedicure in Ames.  Claudia's mom picked them up afterschool in a limo.  Definitely something I'd love to get to go with her next time.
We joined mom at the Legion for BINGO over spring break.  It was a fun way to spend an evening together!
Carter began his first job at Fareway the week of spring break.  Matthew and I are super proud of him and excited for all the things that having a job will bring:)

The kids each had a friend spend the night over spring break.  The girls made slime using shaving cream, white glue, and contact solution with their friends.

On Friday of Spring Break, we took a family day-trip to Waterloo.  The museums in town were all charging $1 entry fee to encourage families to get out of the house together.  We went to the John Deer Tractor and Engine Museum, Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum (sat in a planetarium presentation), and the Science Imaginarium.  We ate lunch at a yummy sports bar in town too.

The Girl Scouts He and Me this year was a glow in the dark dance on a Friday night.  These 2 had fun together.
This year for the first time ever we all filled out an NCAA tournament bracket.  I flipped a coin, Lanie picked names, and Carter, Kaleigh and Matthew actually thought through their choices.  It was fun to update together and feel the challenge.  The winner was Kaleigh.  She beat Carter by just a few points.  Sad part was that none of us had teams that made it to the finals.  Kaleigh gets to choose our April family date.   Right now she is leaning toward go-carts and out for rolled ice cream.

We combined Easter with Lanie and my birthday at Grandma and Grandpa's this year.  We had a yummy brunch on Saturday morning then had 2 Easter egg hunts and dessert.  Matthew and I won about $10 from our scratch-off lottery tickets.  The kids got tons of candy in their eggs along with some fun money to spend.  Kaelan came over that night and decorated eggs with Kaleigh and Lanie.  They used shaving cream to get the swirl affect.
