February Happenings

We are trying to make the best of a very LONG winter this year by snuggling in close for a movie most Friday nights and enjoying being "stuck" in the house with each other:)  Hopefully I won't be writing these same words in March and there will at least be some pictures of us outside.

Carter and Lanie had their last elementary music concert together the last Tuesday in February.  The songs all went along with our year-long theme's Science topics; rocks, fossils, electricity, and magnets.  The kids did a great job and enjoyed the songs too.

Carter is on the far left in the striped shirt, get ready to watch him rock out!

Our last student-led conference with Mrs. Knott.  We have absolutely loved having her being Carter's teacher.  She was actually my sister's 4th grade teacher years ago too:)  He was so confident and fluent at his conference.
We invited the cousins over to make gingerbread carousels and spend the night one night this month.  They played great together, both inside and outside.  The boys played a lot of Mine Craft on the kindles and wii games and the girls played school and some board games with me.

Lanie was invited to a friend's 7th birthday party this month.  The party was down in Urbandale at a bridal boutique.  They rented out the upstairs of the store and had people there to updo the girls' hair, put on make-up, and paint nails.  Lastly, the girls got to pick out a dress and strut their stuff down the catwalk.  The young girls and moms were very nice and we had a lot of fun.  I hope Lanie felt like a princess for just a little while:)

Mom got to come volunteer to make a valentine with the kids for the Multi-Age Valentine's Day Celebration.  Here she is with 3 of the grandkids and 1 other one was in the other session.  The kids made valentines to give to people at Mosaic and the long term cares in town.

We had a Civic Center event this month too.  We met Mindy and Aiden for lunch first and then went to the Spirit of Uganda.  The music and dancing was amazing and so fun to watch them play on the instruments.  At the end, we learned about each of the dancers and more about the music and culture.

PTA Snowflake Dance...too excited to get them both to look at me and smile at the same time:)  Kids had fun dancing with their friends in the commons, eating cookies and drinking juice, and playing games in the gym with Daddy.
While Carter was away at a friend's birthday party, Lanie had Reagan come over for supper and to play.  Lanie taught her how to play Tipsy Towers and the girls water painted.
