We celebrated April birthdays in Marion/ Cedar Rapids this year! I couldn't believe how long the trails were! It was so fun to day drink, in the warm sun, without any cares in the world:). We talked about life and laughed for hours.
For Mother's Day we rented a cabin near Vinton, Iowa for all of us to escape to. Colyn had unfortunately just torn his ACL so he was in a lot of pain but did the best he could. We had a few mishaps with the plumbing, yet it all turned out okay in the end. We played games and talked around the table alot and relaxed on the deck overlooking the river. We took Kaelan disc golfing for the first time at Wild Cat Bluff. It was a beautiful course and he seemed to really enjoy it!
A huge sigh of relief and lots of hope in our hearts when Lanie got her first vaccine this month at the clinic in Ames. The Pfizer vaccine is now approved for children 12 - 15 years old.
Lanie started Miracle League baseball at the Ames Miracle League park. Games are Saturdays at 9am. She seems to really enjoy it and does well at batting, getting the ball and throwing. I hope the activities there expand to so much more:)
Our first camping trip this year was at Wanatee Park in Marion, Iowa. We went disc golfing (again) at Wild Cat Bluff, cooked on the new blackstone, rocked on the new rocking lawn chair, laughed and played a couple rounds of kuub with good friends Betsy and Jesse Tibodeau. The kids were SO good and we all got along. Let camping season begin and hopefully be longer than last year:)
Our first nephew on my side graduated this year. We are so proud of Kaelan! He persevered and got his work done, and was even online all year. Grandma planned his graduation party at the Legion. He wanted walking tacos and cupcakes. Everyone pitched in on the food and decorations. I don't think I'd been to a high school graduation since I graduated, but it was a lot of fun to go to! Great speeches from Valedictorians and adults.
Prom happened this year! Carter and I went to Milroy's Tuxedo in Ames for him to pick out his outfit. He didn't have a date and didn't worry about it either. He didn't stay long at the actual dance but had an okay time there and then went out to eat with friends after. I can't believe we are moving toward senior year!
