Hamilton Family Vacation 2016: National Parks Road Trip

Matthew planned another successful family vacation!  This time we headed out on a roadtrip to hit as many National Parks out west as we could:)  Our first stop was an Airbnb house in Nemo, South Dakota.  I drank coffee from the front porch every morning and enjoyed this amazing mountainous view.  During the daytime we enjoyed Badlands, Bear Country, Storybook Island, Mount Rushmore, Crazyhorse, and Dinosaur Park.

We stopped in Thermopolis, Wyoming to stay in a hotel on the way out to Yellowstone.  We went swimming for the first time in a Hot Mineral Pool.  It felt very weird to be swimming without chlorine in the water and the slight smell of sulfur began and lasted nearly the rest of the trip.

Yellowstone was amazing!  I had no idea that this landform was out there!  I never believed in the super volcano, until I was there and witnessing the hot water coming up from the ground and the strong smell of sulfur everywhere.  We stayed in a cabin near Yellowstone Lake for 2 nights and then another cabin the last night.  Too many amazing sights to even describe including seeing a mama bear and her cub digging in the ground, hiking to see waterfalls, swimming in a boiling river, and being surrounded by stunning landscape.

On the way home we stopped at the Montana Zoo and stayed in a hotel with a water park, but we were so tired by then we really didn't take much advantage of the water park.

Our last stop was beautiful Theodore Roosevelt National Park.  More hiking, learning about our history, and seeing amazing views.  It was a vacation that we've always wanted to experience with our children and are glad we got to.
