August 2015 Happenings

We now have a 6th grader and a 4th grader and I am entering my 14th year as a teacher for Nevada Central Elementary School.  How time flies!

Matthew and I took the kids with us to a Nightfall on the River concert to share our love of music with them.
Our one camping trip of the summer, the week before school starts:)  We took our little tent and headed to Twin Anchors.  It was a rough night sleeping on the ground but so glad we got to be together.
Matthew and I completed our 3rd Urban Assault Ride in Des Moines.  It was a great, but exhausting time.  Lots of fun obstacles and we had time to catch up with Jeremy and Mindy too.  Hope there's another one next year, and that Matthew and I squeeze in another bike ride before then (I'd like to do the Bacon Ride).
Gigi's Playhouse and a sports group held a soccer clinic for kids with Down Syndrome.  Lanie made friends instantly with the highschool girls and really had fun trying soccer that day.

Matthew and I took the kids to Big Creek for a family day.  We picnicked, played on the playground, played some disc golf and went for a nice bike ride together.  I learned they rent kayaks, so next year would love to do that as a family:)

After the durango's transmission died, it was time for a new vehicle.  I really like the way the Chevy Traverse feels to drive and it seats 8!  Hoping this vehicle will last us a long time:)

For the first time in many years, we were able to watch the Lincoln Highway Days parade rather than be in it.  It was fun to wave to the kids in my class as they walked by.

Lanie and Carter had the honor of being in Brittany and Brian's wedding the last Saturday in August.  Carter's favorite part was riding in the limo with the wedding party and of course, Lanie loved the dancing at the reception.  It was a beautiful wedding and wonderful time together.
