dysw: November Happenings

Seems like lots of remodeling going on November at our house:) We hired a friend to remodel our downstairs bathroom. We've run into lots of extra work with this because I think that it has the original shower in it from 1965...nothing matches up anymore. Hopefully we are on the downhill with that project and maybe I'll be able to paint during Christmas vacation.

During Thanksgiving vacation, the kids helped me paint the office. 9 years ago, I was crazy and painted it Barney purple to be used as toy room. The kids never played in it because it was away from the adults and since then we've used it as an office. Well, 2 coats of paint later, we have a nice neutral color which makes me much more calm when I'm using the computer:)

We went to a Nevada PTA sponsored hockey game for the Iowa Wild. Not quite as exciting as a Minnesota Wild game, but still a fun time together as a family.

We celebrated my good friend Tanya's birthday by going out down in Des Moines. We had a delicious meal at Court Avenue Brewery and then headed to a country bar and later a dance club. It was lots of fun to dance the night away with friends and see what young people in their twenties do on the weekend:)

Lanie felt very special the week she was Rock Star (student-of-the-week) in her classroom. Here she is with her poster, Mommy came for lunch one day after showing a picture slide show, Daddy came for lunch one day and even Grandma and Grandpa.

We are having lots of fun staying active with Lanie's girl scout troop. I even taught a lesson about school bus and playground safety to help the troop earn their safety badge. We crated a school bus craft and even ate a school bus treat out of graham crackers, frosting, and oreos:)

The kids and I helped to expand Noah's Garden to 10 more raised beds on a Saturday in November. Carter had fun using the electric drill (wonder where he got that from Papa:) )
