June 2019 Happenings

Lanie had her dance recital the first weekend in June.  This year she took Lyrical and loved it!  She danced to a beautiful version of "Leaving on a Jet Plane".  She did an awesome job and says she wants to do dance again next year.  We'll see which class:)

The kids seem to be using the pool a little more than last year!  I haven't been there at the same time as Carter but he's gone a few times with Colyn and other friends.  Lanie is taking swimming lessons with Abby VanDam and is working hard to try to get her deep water pass.  She's super close and I know she'll get it by the end of summer.

 So much of Carter's June was spent on the ball field.  He's been playing 3rd base and doing a great job!  I can't even remember how many outs I've seen him throw to first!  He's even gotten to pitch a couple times  and play JV a little.  We are so glad he's playing.

For Father's Day weekend we rented a cabin at Hall Lake in Fairmont, Minnesota.  I was so glad Mom and Dad and Renae and her boys could come!  We rented a pontoon on Saturday and although there were storms mid-afternoon we still got our use out of it and had a lot of fun.  We took turns cooking and had plenty of yummy food and lots of relaxing including playing games, fishing, swimming in the lake and drinking coffee on the deck in the morning.

 It took 3 years but we finally got an awesome harvest of strawberries!  I probably filled 3-4 gallon ice cream buckets in a 2 week period.  So much fun and hope this continues next year:)

Had an awesome time with some great girlfriends going to see New Kids on the Block Mix Tape tour.  Along with hearing the awesome NKOTB songs and their dancing, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson, Salt-N-Pepa and Naughty by Nature were also there.  We sang SO loud and reminisced about being kids.  Lanie found this old photo in a box and it brought back awesome memories too.  

Although we cancelled our camper for the Clear Lake camping trip, we went up to visit friends Saturday afternoon.  Matthew reminded me that the owners of GeAngelos had GeJo's by the Lake that they always talked about and so we had to go try it with the hot Natomeli pizza.

Lanie had her first week of summer Sunnyside Camp.  The theme was Under the Sea.  She was SO excited when she walked in to see that her counselor, Lauren, from last year, was back for another summer.  They loved on each other a lot! I think they spent a lot of time swimming and doing water activities.  Lanie came home very happy but very tired with lots of evidence of playing outside a lot.  She's excited to go back in July for another fun-filled week.
