Hickory Park birthday tradition
Carter played on the JV Golf team this spring. He seemed to really enjoy the sport and the coaches. Can't wait to get to see him in a meet!
Lanie's 7th grade musical was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. She was one of the oompa loompas. She loved every minute of it and even got to be a dancer in a small group for one of the songs. She had a Thursday and Friday night performance. Such talented actors and actresses in the group! I was so proud of Carter helping with lights during rehearsals and performances too!
Lanie had such a great group of girls for her 13th birthday party. We took them to a Ninja Warrior gym in Urbandale and then back to our house for pizza, cake, presents, and lots of girl time. They played lots of hide and seek, listened to music, put on make up, and watched a movie. They even made breakfast the next morning! We got Lanie a bigger 2 wheel bike with a basket in front, phone and cup holder and a place to hold a bag in back. It's a little big for her but she is doing great getting used to it!

I got to spend the afternoon and night with these lovely ladies. First we went to Reclaimed Rails Brewery in Bondurant and then to a concert at Prairie Meadows. The best time was just being together and telling stories about our lives and times together.
Lanie went geo-caching with her Girl Scout troop at McFarland Park.
Snake Alley
Our April family trip was to Henry County the last weekend in April. We rented a beautiful 2 bedroom cabin. Although the weather wasn't great, we DID manage to get in a hike on Friday night when we first got there. Then on Saturday Matthew took us into Danville and Burlington to show us where he grew up. Lots of things to see including the Mississippi River, his paper route, school, houses he grew up in and Public Library. When we got back to the cabin we played board games together and then lounged on the futon. The woodwork in the cabin was beautiful and I'd go back again!
End of year Girl Scouts celebration at the Talent Factory. The girls received some badges for all their hard work this year and will continue to work on their silver award.
