January 2017 Happenings

We must have spent January snuggling inside the house out of the cold.  The Multi-Age team was nominated for an Environment Education award by Story County Conservation and Maggie and I got to go to the conference in Waterloo to accept the award.  It was a nice day being with a completely different group of professionals

Wrestling season for Carter ended the end of January. It was worth a try, but I don't think he really enjoyed it.  We'll see what he does next Winter sports season.  I'm hoping he'll go out for track in the spring and do field events.

Carter wanted a small, casual birthday party this year for turning 13.  He had Keetan, Jamison, and Seth over for pizza and spend the night.  We all went to the ISU Gymnastics/ Wrestling meet.  When they got home they played video games, ping pong, wrestled, and other silly teenage boy things:) For his birthday he wanted money to buy a video game chair and foot stool.

Tanya planned a wonderful Saturday morning hike at Robison Acres about 15 miles from our house.  Unfortunately it had rained (yes, rained) the night before so it was REALLY muddy but we trudged our way through anyway.  Our family definitely needs to do more hiking (and maybe geo-caching together this summer).
