May Happenings

We decided to try our first ever Tulip Days this year.  The weather was sunny and warm and the time together was wonderful.  We enjoyed a Dutch Letter and snow cones too.  Favorite part of the parade was the street washers dressed in their dutch outfits.

The kids and I went to the annual Story County Conservation Spring Fling.  Carter enjoyed trying out the wooden dancing man to the music.  We did crafts, looked through binoculars, at popcorn and cookies, and went fishing.

The annual Multi-Age Year End Celebration this year was especially heart-felt as we said thank you and good-bye to a dear colleague and friend of mine that is retiring.  It is amazing to reflect back on the year and think of all the people we've met and learned from in 1 school year.

On a beautiful Friday night we packed up the bikes and took off for Madrid to have ice cream and play at the park before hopping on the trail to cross the High Trestle Bridge.  By about 8:00 at night the bridge's lights began to turn on.  The view into the valley is beautiful and if you're lucky you'll see a deer or other wildlife.  I was really surprised by how far Lanie could ride with me.  She's probably ready for a 5 or 6 mile ride!

Go the Distance Day at school

I was able to run in my 2nd Market to Market run this month. This was our team called Jesse's Girls in our 80's work out clothes:)  We had a blast running and spending time together.  The Summer Shandy at the end didn't taste so bad either:)  We're already registered for next year!

No, we did not call each other ahead of time:)

Carter has had an awesome baseball season this year!  He seems to really enjoy the boys and coaches on the team.  He's swinging at really hard pitches and hitting them and catching some really nice balls at first base for outs.
