September Happenings

The first big field trip of the year, we went to Rockford Fossil Park and I got to chaperone Lanie!  We had a blast climbing up and down the quarry.  She wasn't very patient digging for fossils, so I tried hard to coax her to sit down and look.  She put lots of rocks in her milk jug and I put some fabulous fossils I found in too, so she had a great mix to sort out back at school:)  We need to go there as a family sometime!

My babyboy ran his first 5K at the Flapjack Run in Des Moines at Water Works Park.  A flat, paved trail course on a beautiful Sunday morning.  Matthew and Lanie cheered him on and I went on to run the 10K. He persevered through it even when it got really tough after mile 1, I am SO proud of him!

Mindy, myself, Tanya, and Hillary right before the run.

Where did we spend most of our Sunday afternoons in September?  Football fields!  Carter spends a lot of time in Center position and is doing a great job learning how to tackle. Lanie doesn't watch much of the game, but has fun playing with friends and cousins:)

Go Titans!  It's been a rough afternoon.
Nevada Homecoming!  For the first time ever, our elementary school walked over to the high school for a pep rally on Friday afternoon before the football game.  It was a beautiful, warm afternoon and really kicked up the school spirit:)  Look at the sea of purple!

Mom and Dad invited us out to Hickory Grove for Trick or Treating.  Yes, the end of September is early, but its SO nice, because its warm and you can see the kids' costumes really well.  We went around the campground and then went back to mom and dad's camper for chicken and dumplings, apple salad, and cookies.  Doug, Deb, and Nicole (and the girls) were out there too, so it was great to catch up with them too:)
