Lanie gets a bedroom of her own

On a spur of a moment, I decided one of my New Year's Goals would be that Lanie gets a big-girl bedroom.  She still had the  paint, boarder, and curtains from when the room was Carter's nursery and when Grandma Barb got her a new bedspread for Christmas, it was all the motivation I needed to get going.  Of course, Matthew would've liked me to wait until he had a day off, but he knows me better than that:)

Matthew, the painter
Carter helped ALOT to get the room ready to paint, "Hey mom, vinegar really does work to get the boarder off!"

Lanie got to help paint her new room:)

Obi-lilac on and drying

New curtains and blinds too

Butterfly stencils
I was inspired by walls of butterflies on Pinterest, and decided to try stenciling on my own.  I used the colors in her bedspread and bought all my supplies from Hobby Lobby.  It was really fun!! The key to stenciling is to dab, not brush:)

one final touch, outlet and plug in covered in scrapbook paper
Lanie is very happy with her room and we'll keep adding to it as time goes on.  Only problem is, she has yet to sleep all night in it....
