Day 3 Thurs 6/7/12: Enniskerry

After a lot of wrong turns and back tracking we made it to Powerscourt Gardens in Enniskerry.  It was raining a lot on our drive, but I thought, it'll stop...Matthew said it only rains for a little while in Ireland and then stops.  As we were paying our entry fee in the amazing castle lobby the receptionist, a tall, skinny, light red haired Irish-man says, "Did you hear we're supposed to get 1 month's rain in 1 day today?"  I smiled lightly trying to process what he was telling us.  Then he says, "You know, there comes point when you're so wet you say 'what the feck' and it doesn't matter anymore."  I didn't believe him until we went outside and knew we had to make the most out of our day and with as amazingly beautiful the gardens were it wasn't hard.  It WAS pouring down rain on us, but we had on our water proof shoes that Matthew had bought (first time I wore them and LOVED them) and rain jackets.  The shoes were so comfortable!

Powerscourt Garden and Castle belonged to a Duke at one time and houses about 10 different gardens including a Chinese garden and a Pet Graveyard.  There were a lot of dogs' stones in the graveyard, and one stone was for a cow.  It read, "The cow who gave over 10,000 gallons of milk."

We began to notice how different even the flowers were in Ireland.  I hope we can enlarge some of Matthew's photographs and use them in our house:)  Hoping to replicate some of the flower gardens some day at my own house too!

Oh, yes, and not too far into our walk in the gardens, I said, "What the feck" and loved every second of it:)

Yes that little speck in a blue coat is Matthew!

The tower we knew we had to climb:)  Winding, stone steps and everything!

~Lucky to be getting rained on in Ireland~
