Day 2 Wed 6/6/12: Dublin

The flight to Chicago was only an hour and then it was race to the Terminal for Aer Lingus for a 7 and 1/2 hour flight to Dublin.  After waiting in line to show our passports and getting our rental car, it was close to 11AM when we hit the streets driving on the left side.  Matthew would be the only one allowed to drive on this trip:) My job was to navigate using Matthew's 3-ring binder full of maps, written directions, and itineraries to follow.  We did okay for a while getting around the huge city of Dublin but of course, it didn't take long to get lost.  It didn't help that we ran in to the Olympic Torch Relay twice while getting around town.  We changed plans and went straight to our hotel, Grand Canal Hotel.  After getting settled there, we decided to take off walking into town.  We were both relieved to be out of the car already!  Now at this point we had had about 8 hours of sleep in about 48 hours, but were amazed to be in Ireland.  One of our life-long dreams was coming true.

~Lucky to be in Dublin, Ireland Wednesday 6/6/12~

Olympic Torch bus, but missed the picture of the runner

Standing at the entrance of St. Stephen's Green garden, decided to not stay long as there was an Olympic rally going on inside with thousands of people shouting, "Come on, Ireland!"

St. Patrick's Cathedral, Matthew had to get a picture of this spooky door frame:)
Boat on the River Liffey that goes through Dublin
